How It All Started?

Juvenile Diabetes Foundation – Rajkot, is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation working for the betterment of those having type-1 diabetes.

The story of how everything started goes back to 2004, due to what can be considered an unfortunate event when Mr. Rutvik Doshi, S/O Mr. Apul Doshi was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic at a tender age of 5 years. Fortunately, Apulbhai was blessed and capable enough to provide his son with the required insulins and necessary treatments. But, as Apulbhai got deeper into the field of diabetes, by learning through available resources, meeting doctors and parents of other children who also had type-1 diabetes, he saw the harsh reality that not every parent is lucky enough to provide their children with the insulins and treatments that are needed to take proper care of a type-1 diabetic child and this led Apulbhai to a realisation that something has to be done to help all those people who were not as fortunate as he was.

Thus, as a way of giving back to the society, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation – Rajkot was established on 29th Feb 2004, by Mr. Apul Doshi, with a sole aim of serving the poor & needy juvenile diabetic patients.

What started as a solo journey, gained traction as other people with similar ideologies started coming forth to volunteer. Today, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation – Rajkot, serves more than 1450 type-1 diabetics and, is the one of its only kind of organizations in the region of Saurashtra, which is serving the patients having type-1 diabetes. Most of the member are from not well doing backgrounds and require support from external sources.
